Old Torquay is inspired by the first houses that appeared around the coastal town of Torquay Victoria in the 1950s.
My father built a simple holiday house which was one of the very first in the area.
Many of the dwellings were simple wood or fibro shacks with the skillion roof being a common feature.
Seeing these houses dotted through the landscape gave this area its charming character.
In this painting I have used mainly the palet knife to lay down paint, adding and scraping back to reveal multiple layers and colour.
