My work focuses on deepening observational drawing and painting skills informed by art history and my experience of the world. Immersed in observation, I use oil paint or charcoal to explore the presence of my subject matter through the interplay of formal relationships such as colour and pictorial space. I find subject matter that are close at hand, flowers in a glass jar, shells, or my own face looking back at me in a mirror.
