Victoria Farrell - Weird Wired Jewellery | When creating her jewellery, Victoria uses neither solder nor glue. It is the wire bending, shaping and wrapping around itself that creates a permanent connection. Her work is created for those who love intricate jewellery. Victoria fell in love with making wire jewellery over 15 years ago and has been honing her skills ever since. Despite being self-taught, she was heavily inspired and encouraged by many fellow makers - art is an ongoing process. Music is the inspiration when making jewellery – intricate, woven work comes from a place of meditation, laying the weaving wire over the base wire in repetitive patterns, allowing for much contemplation of the world and how to put it to rights – accompanied by classical, acapella, or instrumental works. Victoria’s more figurative works come from the pure enjoyment of playing with wire, colour, and form. This work is created to more upbeat, joyful styles of music. The processes used in the creation of Weird Wired Jewellery involve neither solder nor glue, but instead involves bending and shaping the wires, often wrapping it around itself that makes the permanent connections. Victoria consciously chooses to use 100% recycled copper and silver wire, gemstones, and beads plus some found and re-purposed items. She fabricates clasps, ear wires, jump-rings and chains herself as well as weaving each unique item, involving many hours of work. Her woven silver and copper wire jewellery is inspired by music and crafted by hand. She uses intricate techniques to create pieces that are both technically and aesthetically challenging to evoke a sense of wonder and delight in the viewer.
