Mangano, Gemma

Gemma is a Dardanup artist working predominantly in oils. Her primary focus is portraiture, however she enjoys producing small still life paintings and also landscapes, taking the Ferguson Valley as her main subject. When producing art, Gemma is influenced by traditional methods and she likes to create pieces that are beautiful to look at and that contain an element of story-telling, but that are realised with simplicity. In her portraits she seeks to explore themes of loss, sacrifice, love, alienation and other emotional content. Gemma received a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Fine Art from the University of Western Australia.
